With its interest in other areas of the oil and gas industry, Fortress and its partners are investigating various applications, such as introducing nanotechnology to increase operating time between service intervals for machinery as well as lowering operating cost.

The physical properties of nanometres – there are 25,400,000 nanometres in an area of one square inch – means they are perfect for cutting-edge industrial lubricants.

In every mL of custom-blended lubrication oil and greases, there are thousands of sub-micron hollow nano spheres that behave like shock absorbers to reduce ware and friction. Nanotechnology also demonstrates high resistance to impact and surface-smoothing characteristics.

Nanotechnology is versatile and can be introduced as an additive into oil-based and water-based solutions. Oil-based applications include grease, engine oil, industrial oils, coatings, fire-resistant lubricants, and drilling and cutting fluids.
